A Note From Jillian

Hi, I’m Jillian.

I’m the founder of Trusted Care Counselling and a Registered Psychotherapist.

I created this practice because I wanted therapy to feel different.

Not rushed.

Not intimidating.

Not like you had to have all the answers before attending.

I’ve learned that people rarely come to therapy because they’re “broken.”

They come because they’ve been carrying too much for too long.

My goal is to create a space where you can stop pretending you’re okay, better understand yourself, and begin making meaningful changes that last long after therapy ends.

It would be a privilege to be part of your journey.

There comes a point where pretending you’re okay becomes more exhausting than admitting you’re not.

Maybe you’ve spent months—or years—telling yourself you’ll figure it out on your own. Maybe you’ve become so used to carrying stress, anxiety, self-doubt or emotional exhaustion that it simply feels like who you are.

At Trusted Care Counselling, we believe therapy should be more than a place to talk.

It should be a place where you finally feel understood.

Where you don’t have to explain why your mind won’t stop racing.

Where you don’t have to apologize for crying.

Where you don’t have to convince someone that what you’re feeling is real.

Whatever you’re working through, change is possible.

Why attend therapy?

People often come to therapy believing something is wrong with them.

They’re frustrated because they overthink everything.

They wonder why they can’t relax.

They blame themselves for shutting down, procrastinating, people-pleasing or reacting more intensely than they’d like.

We see these experiences differently.

Instead of asking,

“What’s wrong with you?”

we ask,

“What happened?”

or

“What has your mind been trying to protect you from?”

When you understand why your brain and nervous system respond the way they do, self-blame begins to make room for understanding and self-compassion.

Therapy Isn’t About Fixing You

Because you aren’t broken.

Therapy isn’t about becoming a different person.

It’s about helping you reconnect with the version of yourself that has been buried beneath stress, fear, burnout, trauma or unrealistic expectations.

Some sessions may leave you with practical tools.

Others may leave you with a new way of seeing yourself.

Both are important.

Real change happens when insight and action come together.

What You Can Expect

Starting therapy can feel intimidating.

Many people worry they’ll say the wrong thing.

Or that they won’t know where to begin.

Or that they’ll become overwhelmed.

You don’t have to prepare.

You don’t need the perfect words.

You don’t even need to know exactly why you’re struggling.

Our role is to meet you where you are, ask thoughtful questions, and help you untangle what has felt impossible to understand on your own.

Therapy moves at your pace.

There is no pressure to share more than you’re ready for.

Our Approach

No two people experience anxiety, ADHD, trauma or depression in exactly the same way.

That’s why we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy.

Our therapists tailor each session to your unique experiences, strengths and goals, drawing from evidence-based approaches including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Solution-Focused Therapy (SFBT)
  • Trauma and attachment informed therapy

More important than any specific approach is the relationship we build with you.

Research consistently shows that feeling understood and connected to your therapist is one of the strongest predictors of successful therapy.

Why People Choose Trusted Care Counselling

People often tell us they appreciate that therapy here feels…

  • Warm rather than clinical.
  • Practical rather than overwhelming.
  • Collaborative rather than prescriptive.
  • Compassionate rather than judgmental.
  • Honest rather than scripted.

We’ll work together to understand what’s happening beneath the surface and build practical strategies that fit your life.
